Allyson Lucas
Allyson Lucas was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. After graduating from high school, she attended Campbell University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. After being a designer for a short time, she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. Years later, she decided to go back to school and attend UNCW to work on getting her teaching degree. She worked at Myrtle Grove Christian School for nineteen years, serving as a teacher assistant in Kindergarten, lead teacher in Kindergarten and First Grade, and the K-2 Reading Coordinator. She is also trained in Orton-Gillingham, which is a multi-sensory approach to learning, and in the Charlotte Mason, Classical and Experiential methods of instruction. She served as the cheerleading coach for eight years at the school. At Myrtle Grove Christian School she received the Barbara Nail Excellence in Education Award.
Allyson has been married to her husband, Jon, for 30 years in September. Their daughter Elizabeth is a nurse in the Emergency Department at Novant Hospital. Their other daughter, Kimberly is an artist and an assistant manager at Savor restaurant. Allyson loves spending time with her family and friends, going to the movies, and spending time outside. Allyson and her husband have been members of Port City Community Church for the past seventeen years.
